The upgraded Children’s Garden includes new walking paths, adventure garden rooms including a butterfly garden and a jungle garden, new artworks and seating, all at a scale for a child. All-Abilities Playground The new all-abilities play space compliments the fairytale character of the children’s garden. The playground and the children’s garden provide a sanctuary for creative play and transforms the Arboretum into a major recreation hub for our young residents. Knox City Council has a continuous commitment to a collaborative design approach. The design encompasses the ideas of a reference group consisting of interest groups, residents, specialists and Council representatives. Accessibility for all and imaginative play spaces are the focus of the design.

Lysterfield Park is a beautiful spot, not far from Melbourne, offering a range of recreational activities. This is a great place for mountain biking. The Lysterfield Park Mountain Bike Trails and the State Mountain Bike course offers 20 kilometres of trails catering for riders of all ages and ability. Choose from easy family trails for all to enjoy around the lake and parkland, a range of flowing single trails through established plantations or steep and technical sections of trail through rocky landscapesLysterfield Lake is very popular for canoeing, sailing, paddle boating and surf skiing. There are also a number of walking tracks including three trails that are linked for a brisk two-hour walk around the lake. The park is open from 8am to 7pm during daylight saving time.

3km – 1.5 hr return. Grade: Steep (reasonable fitness required)
Created in the early 1900s the 1000 Steps Walk was originally made from the trunks of tree ferns laid along the wetter areas of the track to make the climb a little easier. These were replaced by wooden palings before the more permanent concrete steps were installed in 1950.

Knox City Council’s first ever fully fenced off leash dog play park is now open! The park includes several agility items such as hurdles, tunnel and weave poles.
Although the park is fully fenced off the use of the area is at the risk of the dog owner. Dog owners must be present and have control of their dogs at all times.
